Save the Date: 11/6 BCS Students Perform with Passerine Project!

This fall, BCS students are again participating in a series of songwriting workshops with Emmy nominated producer/composer Shevy Smith and recording artist Kendall Custer to explore songwriting as a form of self-expression.  Students adapt poems from the Afghan Women’s Writing Project into original songs, while learning how art has historically blossomed out of repressed cultures.

The 5-week workshop culminates in a fundraising celebration of the human spirit with live song performances, preceded by celebrity readings, as the students work to raise funds for their co-writers in Afghanistan.

Performances will be as follows:

  • 11/2 BCS/BNS Auditorium at 6pm (5-12 grade / all performers)
  • 11/5 BCS Auditorium at 1pm (6-12 grades only)
  • 11/6 The Lynn Redgrave Theater at 7pm – 45 Bleecker St, NY, NY 10012 (all grades / all performers)
