This fall, BCS students are again participating in a series of songwriting workshops with Emmy nominated producer/composer Shevy Smith and recording artist Kendall Custer to explore songwriting as a form of self-expression. Students adapt poems from the Afghan Women’s Writing Project into original songs, while learning how art has historically blossomed out of repressed cultures.
The 5-week workshop culminates in a fundraising celebration of the human spirit with live song performances, preceded by celebrity readings, as the students work to raise funds for their co-writers in Afghanistan.
