Last year, Brooklyn Collaborative senior Leen Shumman wrote a short story as part of her ELA 11 class (with teachers Dwight and Phill G) that won the Scenarios USA essay contest. Part of the prize is for the short story to be converted to a screenplay and turned into a film! The story/film is called Cut In Half and is a story of two Muslim sisters and their family as they experience and cope with the Leukemia diagnosis of Layla, the eldest daughter, and her decisions about life and death.
Scenarios USA is filming here at BCS on Oct 22/23 and the film will be directed by Susan Seidelman (Desperately Seeking Susan).
