Expeditionary Thursdays Fieldwork (Lower Grades 10/8)

We had a great Expeditionary Thursday fieldwork day in our lower grades on Thurs 10/8.  Grade 6 explored the scientific method in beautiful Prospect Park by forming and testing a hypothesis regarding which is the best angle for flinging a toy army paratrooper and having it land, with an open parachute, into a bin 20 meters away.  Grade 7 explored four exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History to support their research on Native American societies.  Grade 8 delved into their unit on investigative journalism by doing a community walk to the Gowanus Canal and the roof of Whole Foods, bringing in an expert from the Gowanus Canal Conservancy and watching a documentary about the canal and doing a writing activity.
