Immunizations Required for all students

  • New York State Public Health Law requires students to get certain vaccines in order to attend child care or school: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/health-and-wellness/immunizations
  • Vaccines prevent your child from getting infections in school and from spreading diseases to other children.  For this reason, your child will not be allowed to go to school if they have not received the required vaccines for the school year.  Please check with your child’s healthcare provider to make sure they’re up to date.  We will let you know if you are missing an immunization.

OMNY Cards Now Available for NYC Public School Students

  • There is a citywide delay with issuing OMNY cards.  We will issue them as soon as possible this week to all eligible students.  Apologies for the inconvenience.
  • With the new Student OMNY Card, your NYC Public School student can ride MTA subways and buses with just a tap. Students can use their OMNY Cards for four free rides a day, all year long, including weekends and summers. That means more free rides than ever before, with fewer limits—a huge improvement over Student MetroCards!
  • When your child taps their new Student OMNY Card, they can:
    • Ride MTA subways and buses for free, up to four times a day
    • Use their Student OMNY Card all day (not just during certain hours)
    • Tap to ride every day of the year, even on weekends and holidays (not just school days)
    • Use the same card for the entire year, including over the summer
  • Make sure you encourage your child to tap for every ride. Not only are those four taps a day 100% free, but each tap provides important information about bus and subway ridership that can help the MTA improve transit services in your neighborhood.
  • Learn more about Student OMNY Cards on the website
