Another packed week at Brooklyn Collaborative!
5/21 – Our seniors participated in a special Student Voter Registration Day program which included a visit from Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon (http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/Jo-Anne-Simon).
5/22 – Our Band, under the direction of our Music teacher Christine, had a showcase of their favorite tunes!
5/21 – Grade 6 had their ELA roundtables on gentrification in different Brooklyn neighborhoods.
5/21 – Grade 6 also had their Math roundtables where students shared their strategies and solutions for their individual non-routine problems.
5/23 – Our 11th grade interns enjoyed a special visit to Blackstone. They had a business lunch, interacted with various professionals, shared their resumes, and practiced their interview techniques.

5/23 – Our PTA had an early morning bake sale starting at 6:30AM to wish bon voyage to the campers before their buses left!
5/24 – Our school-based winner (Milo’s crew) went on to the NYC Outward Bound Schools Citywide Crewlympics Challenge, a day-long competition against the other network schools. We took home the silver shoes! Yay Milo’s Crew!
5/25 – Our Upper Grades Student Council participated in a Youth Leadership Council (YLC) training facilitated by Anthony Hopkins from NYC Service & Office of the Mayor. The workshop helped our student representatives build civic and leadership skills that support college and career readiness in addition and allowed them to engage in issues of public policy, advocacy, and social activism.
