In one of our recent Crewlympics challenges, we made pinwheels to help Syrian youth recover from conflict as part of the Students Rebuild Healing Classrooms Challenge. The pinwheels supported Syrian refugee students to have secure and nurturing spaces to learn. The Bezos Family Foundation donated $2 to the International Rescue Committee’s Healing Classrooms program for each pinwheel created by BCS students. All together, BCS students raised $3000 to support this global service initiative!
Additionally, BCS was selected as winners of five Google Cardboard virtual reality (VR) headsets so that we can participate in a live webcast with a Syrian student on 4/21. With the headsets, students can also watch a nine-minute virtual reality film entitled, Clouds Over Sidra, created by Global Nomads Group, where students are guided through Zaatari Refugee Camp by a young girl named Sidra.
