Over the summer, the TV show The Last OG was filmed in Gowanus. Some members of the crew wanted to make sure there was a give back to the community since they shot many of the scenes in or near the Gowanus Houses. Our Parent Coordinator Tracey was able to work with them on a few ideas for community give back. One was partnering with STATE bags for a bag drop event.
On 3/27, STATE bags and special guest Tracy Morgan visited BCS and ran an assembly for our 7th and 8th graders. They brought a DJ who got students up and dancing, MCs who had kids laughing and having fun, and Tracy Morgan who delivered a speech about the importance of rising up and being the best students they can be.
Tracy even had a school lunch and drank the chocolate milk to emphasize to students the need to have energy throughout the school day! He got a lot of love from our cafeteria staff for that message!
It was an incredible event overall which ended with every Lower Grades student getting a free, awesome backpack from STATE bags. They also had the opportunity to fill the bag with snacks and other goodies from the “supply store.”

Thanks to STATE Bags, Tracy Morgan and the crew from The Last OG, and Tracey for giving our students (and staff) this amazing experience.
