Special shout out to juniors Ashley Avalos Proano and Angelina Salvador for having their work chosen to represent Brooklyn Collaborative at a special all-day Hamilton event, sponsored by the NYC Dept of Education and Gilder Lehrman Institute. They got to perform their original piece on the actual Hamilton stage in front of a full house! Over 1,400 people were wowed by their piece connecting the work of one of the most prominent American women, Abigail Adams, to the issues of women of color, of wage inequality, of maternity, of patriarchy, and so much more! We are SO proud of them. (Check out Gilder Lehrman’s Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/BRqorjuFAjW/) Also thanks to Grade 11 US History teachers John S and Phill G for their work and leadership in organizing today’s production. Because of their hard work, 85 of our juniors had FRONT ROW seats to today’s matinee performance of Hamilton, experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the performance live in the Richard Rodgers Theater and have a Q&A with the cast.
