A busy week to end October here at Brooklyn Collaborative!
10/30 - Our 9th graders interviewed our seniors to prep for the College March!
10/31 - Halloween fun at Brooklyn Collaborative!
11/1 - We had Lower Grades Expeditionary Thursday. Check out our longer post linked here.
11/1 - US History classes were learning and practicing how meditation could help colonized people form new thoughts and new neural networks. The students went upstairs to the roof and burned white sage as a cleanser, and then students burned negative habits they wanted to release, and committed to positive affirmations. This is part of our decolonization unit for American Indians.
11/2 - 10th grade Town Hall recognized our attendance superstars!
11/2 - Poet Cindy Tran joined the senior government classes as poet-in-residence to share her words and works on artistic responses to political challenges.
Our library continues to be jam-packed during lunch. 7th grade ELA classes had their regular visits to the library this week.
Our YWCA Afterschool continues to host fun events for participants. We visited the Miccio Community Center located in Red Hook for their annual Haunted House! Over 15 of our after-school participants enjoyed the haunted house and the large game room at the center. We look forward to going again next year.
