2/3-7 – Highlights of the Week

A super busy start to February!

 

2/3 – Our Pd 0 MLL class enjoyed tamales as part of the Mexican tradition that the person who finds the baby Jesus figurine in their piece of cake hosts a party on Candlemas (February 2) and provides guests with tamales.

 

2/3 – PreCalculus students work in groups using Desmos software.

2/4 – Scill attended the Affinity Principals meeting where guest author Lauren Markham spoke about the obstacles facing unaccompanied minors.

2/4 – Our PTA Co-President Juanita Joseph ran a helpful nutrition workshop at our monthly PTA meeting.

 

2/5 – Model Seraphina Mallon joined Tanisha and Stephen’s Internship Seminar on Wednesday to share her work-life experience as an Instagram model and freelance dance coach.

2/5 – ELA 9 students shared their original sonnets as part of their study of Romeo and Juliet.

 

2/5 – Senior Night for Girls Basketball Team and our Cheer Team: so proud of Niyamisa, Yeiri, Sarah, Eliana, Maryory!

 

2/5 – Ruby Lau, creative chair of NeoWorld Digital, visited Stephen and
Tamika’s economics class to share her view of new budgeting for
proposals in the hyper-speed internet era.

 

2/6 – The DOE provided a special opportunity to see the musical Ain’t Too Proud to Beg about the Temptations including a post-show Meet and Greet.  It was an incredible experience!

 

2/6 – Students in Climate Change testing out their hypotheses about the albedo of the earth.

 

2/6 – Students in ELA 11 in book groups reading Fences by August Wilson.

 

2/6 – Dairanys Grullon, an organizer with Generation Citizen, visited
Stephen and Tamika’s economics class to share about the new
formation of Brooklyn community youth boards.
