Today’s College March event was magical!
Our seniors marched their college application materials to our local post office amid great celebration. They were cheered on by community members in Carroll Gardens, all our underclassmen and staff, and BNS students and staff!
The College March is a powerful symbol of the idea that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, can be prepared to thrive at a high-quality institution of higher learning. The College March is a powerful ritual at BCS that helps establish a college-going culture, reminding every student to take responsibility for their own learning, to be courageous, and to persist. BCS celebrates that 100% of our seniors will be accepted to college and that we have a 91% graduation rate! We are grateful to our partners at NYC Outward Bound Schools and at Capital One for making today happen!
The biggest of big shout outs to Josh, Helene, Tracey, Tanisha, Jose, Eddie, Christine, Brittany, Deb, Crew 12, our support staff, and all the crew leaders for making today happen. Thank you to Grade 12 parents for participating and cheering, and to Anthony Van Dunk (Grade 9 parent) for supporting with stage set-up at the Red Hook Post Office!
And of course, our beautiful seniors – the Class of 2016! We could not be more proud!
BCS students and staff were on NY1 this morning for the 7am broadcast and the 8am broadcast! We hope you caught us live:
