Here are some highlights from the week!
On Monday, our 6th graders presented their Self Portraits to former students in their first Social Studies Round Tables. All of the former student experts had also participated in our Identity study and created their own self portraits when they were in 6th grade. Our 6th graders were courageous and persistent, and our experts were kind, responsible, and open-minded. All were collaborative. On Tuesday, in the spirit of gratitude, our 6th graders wrote thank you notes to their experts which were delivered during Wed’s Crewsgiving. Many students wrote things like: “I was really nervous at first, but you made me feel more confident;” “Your follow-up questions helped me think about my portrait more carefully;” “Thanks for the advice and sharing about your portrait,” and so on.
Our 8th graders created a word map based on the text Native Son, making connections between themes, characters and background information.
Our student-athletes attended the 2K classic game to honor veterans at Madison Square Garden, sponsored by the Wounded Warriors project. They were even able to get on the Dance Cam!
Everyone had a great time on Wednesday during our annual Crewsgiving celebrations!
