11/5-11 – Highlights of the Week!

Our library continues to be a happening place!

11/2 – Our Wolves girls basketball team attended a campus visit with CCNY with Coach Nikkie, speaking with college student-athletes and being inspired by their pathways to college success.

11/6 – All staff attended quality professional development around the city.  Most of our teachers attended the Quality Work Protocol with all the NYC Outward Bound schools, looking at high quality tasks and student work and sharing best practices with other teachers of similar subjects in other network schools.  Our Crew to College Team went to College Access for All PD uptown, learning about how to improve our college access culture.

11/8 – Scill was part of Superintendent Kathy Pelles’ District Equity Team, attending a day-long seminar at NYU with researchers John Krownapple and Eddie Fergus about addressing disproportionality in schools.

11/9 – 6th graders playing “Leaf Blower Relay” at their Habits of Scholarship celebration. 100% homework completion in their classes for 2 straight weeks!

11/9 – Our staff were in full force, presenting master classes on model EL practices.  Imani, John, Chrissy, Adam, and Claire presented at the EL National Conference in Philly.  Congrats!  Imani presented on using EL pedagogy in family engagement, Adam and Claire presented on schoolwide Mathlympics, and John and Chrissy presented on mastery grading.  It is an honor for any EL Education school to be selected for a master class – for Brooklyn Collaborative to be selected for three master classes is an extreme honor!  Go BCS!

11/9 – Tracey and senior Marquis attended the celebration at Brooklyn Borough Hall to bestow the key to Brooklyn to celebrity Tracy Morgan!  Tracy Morgan is a friend of Brooklyn Collaborative, having visited last year along with State Bags to inspire our 7th and 8th graders!  Congrats to Tracy Morgan, philanthropist, activist, and Brooklynite!

11/10-11 – This weekend, the Brooklyn Collaborative Team and staff advisor Eddie Kelly showcased at Barnes and Noble (Park Slope branch – 267 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215).  We were there Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-5pm showcasing our robots and various makerfaire products available for sale.  Brooklyn Collaborative received a portion of the profits from this book fair! This is the fourth year we presented at Barnes and Noble!
