Following a resounding 3-0 victory on 11/1 against the resilient HS for Environmental Studies, our Varsity Soccer team made it to the elite Final 8 in the PSAL B Division City Playoffs!! GO WOLVES!!
On 11/1, we hosted NY City Council Member Brad Lander as part of our Generation Citizen partnership in our Government class. Students proposed their action projects to Council Member Lander (which they have worked on with teachers Stephen/Tamika and the Gen Citizen democracy coaches) and received feedback. There was even time for a little goofing around! We’re appreciative that Council Member Brad Lander is such a supporter of Brooklyn Collaborative and a great sport!
Students in Spanish I created their ideal community posters.
Students in US History launched into their next unit with a mindfulness practice on Fri 11/3. Students first engaged in a meditative circle. Then they wrote on a slip of paper something negative they wanted to lift away from their lives. Then they went to the roof to burn the papers in a covered pot to model some of the ways that Indigenous people resisted again colonization (as a way to begin to change their own perceptions and mindsets of them as victims in US History).
Students and staff had a safe and fun time on Halloween!
