A busy but short week at Brooklyn Collaborative!
6th graders were proud to see their “How to Survive MS” guides up on display!
BCS Girls Volleyball played a scrimmage game against Pace HS. Go Wolves!
Our first Expeditionary Thursday was a great day for our Lower Grades, despite the weather. 6th grade explored Prospect Park, 7th grade went to the Met and the American Museum of Natural History, and 8th grade went to the Prospect Park Zoo. More details to follow in our longer post!
Grade 7 Social Studies did Reader’s Theater about the arrival of Cortes in the Americas.
Dominican-American poet Amanda Alcantara joined the senior government classes to read from her work “Chula”.
Taron’s 7th grade Crew played Lotería, a traditional game of chance, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The game is similar to Bingo but uses images on a deck of cards instead of numbered ping pong balls. Crystal Roman 12th grader from Melissa’s crew came and introduced the game to Taron’s crew. She was exemplary in her presentation. She taught the 7th graders how to pronounce the words and provided funny stories to connect the pictures.
We ended the week with Rec Night and our New Families Potluck! Lots of fun for Friday!
