Site Seminar
An Expeditionary Learning Showcase, May 26th and 27th

Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies, now in its ninth year, is a diverse urban secondary (6-12) school.  It is part of a network of Expeditionary Learning schools in NYC served by New York City Outward Bound.  When it opened in September, 2001, Alyce Barr, principal and the BCS community had no idea that their vision and mission were so tightly aligned with that of Expeditionary Learning. See BCS, now a partner in the ELS network for several years, showcase its best practices: high school performance based assessments, use of technology across the curriculum, expeditions that include a rich variety of fieldwork, and the principal's school-wide literacy initiative to create a culture of reading.

Overview
Participants will learn from and alongside educators and students, engaging in classroom experiences, workshop sessions, fieldwork, and creating quality products.

The site seminar showcases curriculum design, active pedagogy, and skill-building.  There will be opportunities for participants to debrief, network, and apply lessons learned to their own practice.  We look forward to seeing you!
