Dear BCS Students and Families,
The DOE has shifted school tomorrow (Fri June 9) to a remote day due to the air quality concerns. There will be no in-person classes tomorrow for Grades 6-12 so students should not come to the building. Tomorrow will be a remote-instruction day for students.
CLASSES
Teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom. Students who have technology and internet can complete the work and turn it in online. Teachers will be available for synchronous help in Zoom from 9am-12pm on Friday June 9 in this Zoom link – we will have breakout rooms for different grades and subjects. All students can join the Zoom link to get live instruction/help from their teachers (the Zoom is optional). If students have no tech or bad connectivity, they will not be penalized if they cannot submit the assignments on Google Classroom – please reach out to your teachers with your situation so we know and can help.
CREW & ATTENDANCE
Crew leaders will reach out to students and families to check in tomorrow. This is a challenging time to pivot to remote for just one day in June and to have disruptions to our trips that are important end-of-year experiences for our students. Crew leaders will submit official DOE attendance by 12pm for their crew. Please be sure to reach out to your crew leader as well so we know how you are doing and that you are in attendance.
TRIPS
Asha and Mercedes will update seniors about the senior trip. It is cancelled unfortunately since the DOE has cancelled all outdoor trips.
BUILDING
The building is open for students/families who wish to get food. Our kitchen staff will be on-site to provide meals for any/all students/families.
MONDAY
We anticipate that there will be school on Monday June 12. We will keep you posted with updates as the city and DOE make decisions based on safety and health concerns.
HEALTH ADVISORY FOR ALL
As long as the city’s Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect, all New Yorkers should limit outdoor activities and stay inside when possible.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your crew leaders,
Scill, Imani, Tracey
