IF YOU NEED TO TAKE A REGENTS EXAM:

School is now closed for construction.  Students who plan to take Regents exams on August 13 and 14 should have come to school by now to pick up a Regents permission letter.  If you do not have the letter, but plan to take a Regents exam, YOU MUST PRINT THE REGENTS PERMISSION LETTER BELOW and FILL IT IN YOURSELF with the name of the Regents you will take and your student ID number.

Regents Permission Letter

If you have an IEP or 504 that entitles you to extra time on tests, you must bring that with you and let the school know ahead of time.  If you do not have copy of your IEP or 504, we cannot get one for you because the school is closed.  You should probably wait until January to retake your Regents if you feel you will need extra time but cannot prove with your paperwork that you are entitled to it.

On the day of the test you must bring:
Student ID (or other photo ID)
Report Card or Transcript
Regents Permission Letter
Pens
If you need it - IEP or 504 for extended time

Do yourself a big favor and leave your cell phone and iPod and all other electronic devices at home!  You will be a guest in a school where no one knows you.  Make it easy for everyone!  Use your best manners.

We recommend that you find your school by Monday, August 11 - or Tuesday at the latest, and go there with this letter to let them know you will be testing at that school.  This way you will be sure the school is offering the test you need and the school will be prepared for you.

YOU MUST ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING:
            a) Take a practice Regents from a Barron's or other Regents review book and study, study, study, especially from the chapters related to the questions you get wrong on your practice test.  Do not go to take a test if you do not get a passing score on your practice test.  (You are likely to do better on your practice test than on a real exam.)  Do your best to take the test under the same conditions that you would take it in a school - three straight silent hours with NO interruptions or breaks for snacks, talking, tv, phone use, etc.
b)STUDY!!!!  It is not a good for you to get repeated failing grades on tests - so if you failed before, you must learn what you didn't know and study A LOT to pass.  This means several hours per day between now and the day of the test!
c)You can get additional help by watching TV shows related to the topic you are studying, i.e. History Channel documentaries on history subjects, PBS (Channel 13) science shows on Living Environment and Earth Science topics and other similar types of TV shows.  THIS DOES NOT REPLACE STUDYING FROM YOUR REVIEW BOOK!!!  If you look on the internet there are also Regent review websites.
d)If you can, get an adult or college student to help you review and quiz you by asking you questions.

Good Luck!
