Friends of Brooklyn New School/Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies (Friends of BNS/BCS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of BNS/BCS and the PTA (Parent Teacher Association). Friends of BNS/BCS provides important financial support to the PTA and BNS/BCS making possible the funding of our overnight trips to environmental camps, improvements to our facilities, and other projects/purchases not affordable through normal DOE appropriations. In these times of severe budgetary constraints, the financial support of our parent body and the larger community have become increasingly crucial to the continued standard of excellence our schools provide in their curriculum.
 
WHY GIVE
Our children are fortunate At the Brooklyn New School and the Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies, they are offered movement classes, visual art materials, a photography darkroom, musical instrument instruction and a host of other resources that supplement and enrich the curriculum. All students at BNS participate in movement or creative dramatics classes taught by professional artists from the Brooklyn Arts Exchange. Middle school students at BCS build a boat that sails on the Gowanus Canal. And entire grades from both schools go on overnight environmental education trips.

But all of this happens only with your help.

Each year, Friends of BNS/BCS, the fundraising committee of the PTA, asks families to make a tax deductible contribution so our children can benefit from programs that enrich their learning experiences. Without these funds, 4th graders wouldn't be awed every year when Jeff Gottlieb, a primitive technologies specialist, recreates the lifestyle of Native Americans who once lived in this region. Nor would BCS students enjoy the thrill of seeing their photographs developed in a darkroom at the school.UR GOAL
