As our school budget gets smaller and smaller, donations from parents, friends, and community members become more and more vital. Every member of our community can find a way to give - and every donation of time or money enriches our students' educational lives - and builds our school.
Over the past several years, our school community has seen the development of lots of exciting projects:
- New laptop carts for both the high school and middle school
- A multi media lab for creating video and podcasting projects
- Outward Bound trips for each grade, where every student is able to attend
- Funding for our growing college fund, which believes that children should start visiting and envisioning themselves in a college setting in 9th grade
- A newly upgraded auditorium
- Curriculum enhancing fieldtrips around New York City and beyond
All of these activities enhance what is happening at BCS, where our hardworking staff builds and supports the relationships and learning that make up the core of our children’s experiences.
We thank you in advance for giving to your child’s school – be it through supply and trip donations, volunteer hours or supporting our College Fund. We know that these are difficult times and we applaud you for contributing to not only your child’s education, but to the community as a whole.
Here are few ways to give to BCS:
Financial Contributions
This campaign asks for direct financial support from families, staff and our extended community family. This effort is organized by our 501c3 Friends of BNS/BCS. The goal for 2009-2010 is $20,000. Contributions are earmarked to supplement our minimal supply budget, allocated by the city. Please make sure to indicate which fund (listed below) you would like to give to at the bottom of the NY Charities form.
One-Time Donation
No contribution is too small! Please donate now! You can donate online with a debit or credit card, through NYCharities.org. You can also send a money order made payable to Friends of BNS/BCS. These checks should be brought to school directly (to the Friends of BNS/BCS mailbox in Room 202) or mailed to:
Monthly Giving Campaign
Make monthly donations which will be charged automatically to their credit card. For your commitment to BCS, you will receive a token of our appreciation. Donate online with a debit or credit card, through NYCharities.org.
College Fund
Campus visits are central to the success of our program. We believe that authentic, in-depth experiences on college campuses are transformative, because our students are able to begin to imagine their own futures as college students.
Our ability to make these experiences available to students depends on the generosity of donors. The cost of travel ranges from $50 for an individual round trip bus ticket, to $200 for group travel on the Long Island Railroad, to $1000 for a coach bus to Pennsylvania or upstate New York.
Small donations to the college fund can make a big difference! In addition to funds for trips, our greatest needs are for postage, which comes to about $10 per student, and for application fees for the City University of New York, which are $65 per student.
All contributions sent by mail should go to:
