We seek families interested in a sixth through twelfth grade program in which their children will be nurtured, challenged, and known well.
Important Facts about BCS Grades 6-8:
-
Sixth graders spend most of their day with a core teacher, switching for science, language, PE and the Arts. To ease the transition to middle school, BCS students don't start switching classes for their core subjects until grade 7.
-
7th and 8th grade teachers loop with their students.
-
BCS does not have a theme. Our curriculum includes arts and technology and provides a solid academic foundation in all subjects.
-
BCS Classes are not tracked.
-
Students are admitted through the NYCDOE Middle School Choice Process. Priority is given to District 15 students, those who live in District 15 or who currently attend District 15 elementary schools. Students who select BCS as their first or second choice will be invited to an interview and sample class. In meeting the applicants we try to select a balanced group of students from many schools. There is no admission test but we do review student work and admit students with a wide range of skills, talents, and learning styles.
