Creative Writing Summer Program for HS Students

  • Wanted to let you know about this three-week free program for high school students (from rising 9th graders to graduation seniors), offered through PEN America–a great organizer that has been connecting my 12th grade classes with visiting professional writers to help students with their narratives and MPBATs.
  • The three-week program runs Monday through Thursday, July 11-29, 2 days a week in person on the NYU campus, and 2 days a week on Zoom. Students will learn about creative writing, journalism and photography and will put together a publication at the end of the program. (Here’s more info). Will look great on college applications!
  • To apply, students should fill out this quick form or email a photo of it to the program director, James Traub, at
