Over 75 of our 9th graders attended Crew Orientation camping this week in Fishkill, NY with their crews! The Crew Orientation Course is a unique feature and benefit of attending a NYC Outward Bound School. It is an important bonding experience for students, their peers and crew advisor, as they work with the guidance of Outward Bound instructors to develop their crew’s culture, expectations, and norms. By creating supportive and caring relationships within the crew, the group is better able to solve problems and communicate effectively. The rustic camp and wilderness experience of Sharpe Reservation in upstate New York removes the normal distractions of home and school and provides numerous adventure and fitness activities, exposing students to the Outward Bound values of teamwork, challenge, adventure, collaboration, responsibility, and service.
