What a great way to start May!

4/29 – 7th graders in ELA are beginning their graphic novels author study.

5/1 – We hosted Dr. Eddie Fergus (author of Solving Disproportionality and Achieving Equity) and several staff members from the DOE Office of Equity and Access.  This was Dr. Fergus’ third visit to BCS this year to support our racial equity work.

5/2 – Scill and the other principals in the superintendency met with Ron Berger around high quality student work.  Ron is the Chief Academic Officer of EL Education.

5/3 – As part of their expedition: 610 Henry Street!! Tammy’s first grade class from BCS visited the BCS seniors in their Economics class. Their questions included: what are the metal boxes in the hallway? What do you eat for lunch? What is your favorite book?  Love the 610 Unity!

5/3 – We held our annual Showtime at BCS Talent Show.  Special thanks to Asha for putting it all together!  Here are some pics/videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/SBvGaK9KYGm96u3ZA

5/3 and 5/4 – Well Cloth’d is a charity clothing organization co-founded by Leetah McGee (Brooklyn Collaborative Class of 2009).  The organization collects, sorts, and donates high-quality clothing donations for men, women, and children.  Leetah and Well Cloth’d ran a pop-up donation event at BCS in the cafeteria (610 Henry Street, Brooklyn, NY) on Sat 5/4 from 12-4pm.  See the website for more info: https://www.wellclothd.com/ – We are so proud of Leetah for exemplifying the BCS core values of responsibility, kindness, and courage.  She inspires us all.  Thank you to our staff, students, and parents who helped sort the donations today after the talent show!

5/1-3 – This was EL Education Better World Week where all our crews went out and engaged in service in line with our core values of responsibility, collaboration, and kindness.  Stay tuned for a longer post!
