4/1-5 – Highlights of the Week!

A super busy week to usher in April!


4/1 – Mr Guy, from the Mayor’s Participatory Budgeting office, joined Tamika, Stephen, and the Period 2 Economics class to review the our school’s efforts this year. After a competitive vote, students voted to spend $2000 to purchased sport equipments for all sports teams and our PE Department.  Thank you to the DOE Civics for All program for making this happen!


4/1 – Several of our juniors started a class today in partnership with PowerHouse Arts.  What a wonderful experience!  Stay tuned for pictures this semester, culminating in their final build projects!  Thank you to Helene, Tracey, Tanisha, and Jesse for making this partnership happen.


4/2-3 – Upper Grades students experience back-to-back Expeditionary Thursdays (except on Tuesday and Wednesday this week).  Stay tuned for our larger post (to be linked here) as our students fanned out across the city in immerse exciting fieldwork connected with their ELA and Social Studies classes!


4/4 – Thank you to 6th grade parents Deidre and Peter for setting up a pop-up voting booth today in front of the school.  Our project for the BNS/BCS bleachers is on the capitol projects ballot for Councilmember Brad Lander – hopefully we earn enough votes to win!  Thank you to everyone for voting and getting out the vote – we are crew!


4/5 – Senior Jaylah Roberts explains her urban design to The Baruch College Urban Design Team, here working with our students as part of a 4-day residency.


4/4-6 – Our RoboSharks Team went to the Washington Armory to compete in an annual robotics competition.  Friday was the inspection and practice matches.  Saturday and Sunday were the competitions!  Go Eddie and the Robosharks!


4/5 – Our GSA BLM welcomed award winning QPOC author Kheryn Callendar for lunch and crew in the music room to celebrate THIS IS KIND OF AN EPIC LOVE STORY.  The students had a wonderful interactive experience.  Thank you to Devon, Candice, and the DOE Lambda Literary Project for this amazing partnership.


4/5 – Students went to STEM Goes Red, an annual event that encourages women to enter STEM fields, with our Director of Internships Tanisha.  Everyone had a great time.


4/5 – 8th grade students who showed outstanding Habits of Scholarship earned a pizza celebration, including a fun Kahoot Gameshow!  Kudos to our students and 8academic for their persistence in Tuesday Mastery Support!
