A packed week for us here at BCS!
We launched our PreK + Crew 9 = Reading Buddies initiative! What fun! The students ate pizza lunch and read together. Thanks to teachers Jennifer and Andrew for their coordination between BNS and BCS!
Debate Club is off to a strong start this season! BCS fielded several teams in the Novice, Intermediate, and Open division at the first NYC Urban Debate League Tournament. Students debated on Capital Punishment and China’s Road & Belt Initiative. Anyone interested in joining should look at the bulletin board outside 426 or contact Adam (adamc@bcs448.org)

10/16 – Our Grade 11 US History students had the honor of seeing Hamilton on Broadway. Students first watched winning submissions from the “Who Tells Your Story?” curriculum from different schools, including BCS. Then we were treated to a Q&A with the Hamilton cast. Finally, the grand performance was the matinee production of Hamilton! Everyone LOVED the show!
10/17 – Lower Grades Expeditionary Thursday was so much fun! Stay tuned for a longer post!
10/17-18 – Magen and Scill represented Brooklyn Collaborative at the EL National Conference in Atlanta. Magen presented a master class on culturally responsive pedagogy and Scill presented one, with School Designer Aurora, on our case study coaching PD days. What a great event for celebrating the wonderful network we’re a part of!
10/18 – Tanisha and Jose took select juniors and seniors to the College & Career Fair at Queens College!
10/19 – Our annual Applefest fundraiser was incredible! We partner with BNS to run a day-long feast with food and fun! Come back soon for a longer post!
