1/29 – UG Campus Visits!

Our annual College Campus Visits took place today! This is our annual rite of passage for Crews 9, 10, and 11 on the first day of the spring semester. Our Grades 9-11 students, along with their crew leaders, visited a myriad of institutions stretching from Ithaca, New York to Washington, DC, representing a diversity of options for our students to explore as they engage in this important aspect their college inquiry.

This year our visits included the campuses of:

  • Adelphi University
  • Columbia University
  • Cornell University
  • Fashion Institute of Technology
  • Howard University
  • Manhattanville College
  • Marist College
  • Queens College (CUNY)
  • Sarah Lawrence

(Lafayette College was also planned for today but they canceled this morning due to weather so our students in Jess-Brian crew had a on-site campus simulation back at school!)

Students had the opportunity to experience the learning and social environment on campus, walk the landscape, talk with current students, visit dorms, and taste the food in the dining halls. All of these are important considerations as they begin the process of making informed decisions about their own post-secondary paths.

THANK YOU to Karlette, our amazing college counselor, for coordinating all these trips – it’s no small feat whenever you have to wrangle 10 different charter coach buses on a single day! Thank you to our crew leaders for prepping and leading our students on their campus experiences and for spearheading our Crew-to-College curriculum every week in Crew. And thank you to our amazing students who show us every day that you’re headed to incredible places shortly upon graduation. You were all responsible and engaged. Some of you arrived as early as 5:30AM for your buses, got home past 8:00PM, and mucked through consistently yucky weather all day – we hope you had an incredible experience! WE ARE CREW!! WE ARE COLLEGE BOUND!
