1/27-31 – Highlights of the Week

A busy week to end January!  Good-bye, fall semester!  Welcome, spring semester!

 

1/27 – Staff were in PD workshops all around the city, including at BCS, on this citywide professional development day for 6-12s and high schools.

 

1/28 – Lower Grades students had their annual community building event at Lakeside Ice Skating.  See our longer post here.

 

128 – Upper Grades students had their annual campus exploration visits (Grades 9-11) and Urban Expeditions (Grades 12).  See our longer post here.

 

 

1/29 – The boys had their last home game.  So proud of our student-athletes and Coach Brandi for their hard work!

 

1/29 – Grade 6 students are starting their biography picture book units, analyzing author’s craft moves in a diverse set of picture books.

 

1/31 – Grade 6 students and librarian Amanda discussed research skills in preparation for writing their own picture books about a person of their own choosing.

 

1/31 – Girls Basketball had their final home game.  They enjoyed a win – so proud of our Lady Wolves and Coach Nikkie!

1/31 – Student Council Changemakers participated in the third of 3 Principles of Educational Equity sessions, based on the professional learning series recommended by Dr. Eddie Fergus from Temple University.  They discussed how different stakeholders are responsible for upholding educational equity in schools.

 

1/31 – Our annual New Year’s Feast Community Celebration was beautiful as usual.  See our longer post here.  We enjoyed performances by BCS Band, Chorus, Cheer Team, and Eliminators Dance Team.  We also had a preview of the May Arts Showcase and we premiered our American Sign Language music video.  What a beautiful night celebrating our community and our students!
